The 4 key ingredients you need for property investment

The world of finance and property investment can be pretty exclusive. Those at the top will often try to make you believe you need multiple degrees to start building wealth, and their conversations filled with jargon can be downright confusing.

But I truly believe that’s not how it needs to be. In fact, I think there are just four simple things you need to get started when it comes to investing in property.

Whether you’re a seasoned investor ready for the next step or looking to explore your investment potential for the very first time, here are the four key ingredients you need to make buying an investment property possible.

  1.     A transparent, honest answer

When you talk to me, I’ll give you a straight answer about whether you can, or can’t, buy an investment property.

When you’re in the beginning stages of exploring real estate investment, you probably have a lot of questions – the biggest one being, is it even possible for me?

No one wants to waste their time, so when you speak to me, you’ll get an answer straight away. The initial conversation about investing in property doesn’t have to be a long one; after 20 years working in property, I’ve narrowed it down to just a handful of questions that I ask to give you a preliminary answer about whether you can, or can’t, afford to buy an investment property.

  1.     The best people in the business

A guiding hand from the experts will take the stress out of investing. If it looks like you’re in a good position to buy, I’ll put you in touch with the people around me who can help you determine the specifics of how much you need and how much you can borrow.

Buying to invest is very different from buying a family home, and it’s important you talk to people who specialise in lending for investment. Mortgage broking is a broad area of finance, so it makes sense to talk to someone well-versed in property investment.

And if it turns out you’re not in the ideal position to invest, these experts can give you the right advice so that we can come back to the investment conversation in a few months’ time.

  1.     Highly personalised, one-on-one service

If you’re a seasoned investor, our conversation will quickly turn to the specifics of what you want to achieve. You might even have ideas about what your next investment property should look like, and that means we can dive right into the one-on-one service, tailored to your goals and expectations.

If you’re a first-time investor, I’ll walk you through the whole process with a clear roadmap outlining what you can achieve.

In all cases, my services will be one-on-one and highly individualised. My advice is specific, not generic, and I’m always realistic about your budget, the options available to you,

and the timeframe you can expect. You can trust that my independent property investment recommendations will be tailored to your individual situation.

I’ll show up in whatever way works best for you – via phone, email or Zoom – so we can work together regardless of location.

  1.     Clarity and understanding

Whether you’re looking for your first investment property or your tenth, I’ll be able to provide the in-depth knowledge you need, avoiding the confusion so you can make confident, informed decisions for yourself and your family.

I don’t deal in jargon, I won’t deliberately try to make things sound harder than they are by using terminology you’re unfamiliar with, and I won’t ever talk down to you.

What I will do is explain things clearly and concisely, to arm you with everything you need to make smart decisions about investing in real estate: thorough, local knowledge of property across NSW, Queensland, Victoria, and WA; access to off-the-plan and new build opportunities across these states; and experience working with the right people from finance through to construction and leasing your new property.

Property investment isn’t rocket science, and with these four simple ingredients, everyone can access the knowledge they need to make it possible.
